The Indian Institutes of Technology are autonomous institutes, officially declared as the ‘Institutes of National Importance' since 1961. The IITs are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The Human Resource Development Minister, currently Prakash Jawadekar is the ex-officio Chairperson of IIT Council. There are a total number of 23 IITs across the country and provides nearly 11 thousand seats to the engineering aspirants.

1. Indian Institute of Technology - Madras:

IIT Madras is established in Chennai(Tamilnadu). The institute was founded in 1959 by the Government of India with assistance from the Government of West Germany. According to the NIRF Ranking, IIT Madras has been ranked as the Best Engineering Institute in India for three consecutive years.

2.Indian Institute of Technology- Delhi :
IIT Delhi  was established in the year 1961 at Hauz Khas, Delhi. The institute was named as the College of Engineering and Technology but later in the year 1963, the institute was given the name IIT. The institute has a beautiful campus in the heart of National Capital and surrounded by monuments such as Qutub Minar and Lotus temple

3.Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay:
